Here, we will talk about the top 10 run scorers of PSL 2023. Also, we will give you the list and statistics of the 30 highest run-getters in this edition. So, let’s begin.
Top 10 Run Scorers in PSL 2023
Here’s the analysis of the top 10 run scorers of PSL 8:
1. Mohammed Rizwan
Mohammed Rizwan was the highest run scorer in PSL 2023. After being the second-highest run-getter in the previous two seasons, he finally won the Hanif Mohammed cap this season. The wicketkeeper-batsman made 12 appearances with the bat in PSL 8. He scored 550 runs at a brilliant average of 55 and a fine strike rate of 142.86. He scored 3 half-centuries and a stunning hundred in the league. The right-hander hit 54 fours and 14 sixes in the 385 balls he faced. After struggling in the T20 World Cup in Australia, it was imperative for him to make a strong comeback in the PSL.
2. Babar Azam
The Pakistan captain had a year to forget in 2022. Although he produced several top-notch knocks in the year, he was badly out of touch. He failed to perform in the final of the Asia Cup 2022 and the T20 World Cup 2022. Also, he didn’t play a single quality innings in the league stages of the World Cup. Babar was the top run scorer in the 2020 and 2021 editions of the Pakistan Super League as well as the 2021 T20 World Cup. He couldn’t continue his dominance in T20 cricket as he wasn’t among the top 5 run-getters in PSL 2022.
A dip in form led to critics questioning his place in Pakistan’s T20I side. But as they say, “The form is temporary, but the class is permanent.” The classy batter was back with a bang in the 8th edition of the league. He amassed 522 runs at an average of 52.5. Babar Azam also shut all the debates about his strike rate as he scored runs at an SR of 145.4. He scored 5 half-centuries in the season and also smashed his first PSL hundred in his 11 appearances. Also, he played one innings less than the top run scorer Rizwan and got 28 runs lesser. The 359 deliveries faced by him brought 64 boundaries and 9 maximums.
3. Rilee Rossouw
Rilee Rossouw was the top run scorer in PSL 2023 among the overseas batsmen. He got 453 runs in his 11 outings with the bat. The southpaw was averaging 45.3 and was striking at 171.59 during the season. Like his captain Rizwan, he also scored 3 half centuries and a hundred in the competition. The hundred came against Peshawar Zalmi in just 41 balls, which is the second-fastest in PSL history. Rossouw hit 48 fours and 21 sixes in the 264 balls he faced in the league.
4. Fakhar Zaman
Another left-hander follows Rilee Rossouw on the list. Fakhar Zaman was the highest run scorer in PSL 2022. He didn’t get as much success this time around, but he was still highly effective. His 429 runs came at an average of 33 and an SR of 160.67. Like the top 3 run scorers, Fakhar also scored a ton in the competition. He got a couple of fifties as well in his 13 innings. The leftie faced 267 deliveries to hit 34 fours and 27 sixes.
5. Imad Wasim
The Karachi Kings’ captain had a stellar run in PSL 2023. Although his team wasn’t able to impress, his personal performances were exceptional. Imad Wasim scored 404 runs in only 10 matches. He stayed unbeaten on 7 of those outings, and his average was 134.67. The strike rate of 170.46, along with 3 fifties, tells about the impact he made with the bat. Imad picked 41 fours and 16 sixes in the 237 balls he faced during the league.
6. Mohammed Haris
Mohammed Haris is one of the emerging stars in Pakistan cricket. His ability to take down any bowling attack is what makes him special. He scored 350 runs at an average of 31.82 in season 8 of the Pakistan Super League. What’s more impressive is his strike rate of 186.17, which is the highest amongst the top 10 run scorers of PSL 2023. He got a couple of half-centuries with the highest score of 85 in his 11 innings. Haris faced 188 deliveries to hit 34 fours and 18 maximums.
7. Saim Ayub
Without a doubt, Saim Ayub was the find of this year’s PSL. His elegant batting style and vast range of shots caught the cricket fans in awe. He was initially batting at the one-down position for Peshawar Zalmi, but then, he was promoted to an opener. The promotion led to some terrific shows with the bat as he showed his class. Saim scored 341 runs at an average of 28.42 and a stunning strike rate of 165.53. The stylish batter picked 5 half-centuries in only 12 matches. His performance in PSL earned him his maiden call-up for the national side.
8. Tom Kohler-Cadmore
Among the foreign cricketers in PSL 8, Tom Kohler-Cadmore was the second-highest run-scorer. He accumulated 325 runs in his 12 innings. His average and strike rates in the season were 32.5 and 160.1, respectively. TKC scored 3 half centuries with the highest score of 92. He hit 25 fours and 21 sixes in 203 balls.
9. Martin Guptill
The veteran batsman was the highest run scorer for the Quetta Gladiators this season. His 9 innings brought 310 runs at an average of 38.75 and a strike rate of 150.49. The Kiwi got one fifty and one hundred in the tournament. His 117-run innings against Karachi Kings was certainly one of the best knocks of the edition. Guptill smashed 31 fours and 14 sixes in the 206 balls he faced.
10. Colin Munro
Colin Munro is the last man on the list of top 10 run scorers in PSL 2023. He got the most number of runs among the Islamabad United batsmen in the 2023 season. He piled up 263 runs at an average of 27.09 and a strike rate of 169.32. The southpaw got one 50 in 11 innings and hit 23 fours and 20 sixes in 176 balls.
