Format of the League
The league will be played in a double round-robin format. All teams will face each other twice in the first round of the tournament. Each team will play 18 matches in the league stage. The top 4 teams on the points table will advance into the play-offs.
Qualifier 1 will be played between the top 2 teams on the points table. The winner of the Qualifier 1 will advance to the final. Teams in the 3rd and 4th spots on the points table will face each other in the Eliminator.
The winner of this match will play against the loser of the Qualifier 1. Eventually, the winner of this match will qualify for the final.
Key Dates For the Event
According to the IPL schedule 2024, the league will commence on Friday, March 22, 2024. The curtain-raiser will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. MA Chidambaram Stadium Chepauk will host this iconic battle of nerves.
On the 2nd day, fans will witness a doubleheader. In the 2nd match of the IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals will lock horns against Punjab Kings. While Sunrises Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens Kolkata.
The league phase will end on 19th of May with a contest between Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals in Guwahati. The first Qualifier is scheduled in Ahmedabad on May 21. It will be followed by the Eliminator on the upcoming day, which will be played at the same venue.
Then, the league will move to Chennai for the 2nd Qualifier on May 24. The same venue will have the privilege to host the final on 26th of May, 2024. A total of 74 matches will be played across 10 different cities in India.
